Oskar Schell is a 9 years old boy who has a disease named as autism. He has a lot of fears, including to communicate with people and with noises too. To fight this he has a tambourine to keep him alert and be calm. He is very smart and creative, he likes making expeditions with his father, who taught him 'do not stop looking'. A consequence of his problem with communication is that he suffers anxiety, hurting himself and going through catharsis, expressing his feeling with strangers. After his father died he starts lying.
