Technologies, How These Technologies are Utilized in the Learning/Teaching Environment ???? At our school we have 8 SMARTboards that are used in classrooms and the library. The teachers who have these conduct lessons that have been created with SMARTboard software. The teachers who do not have a SMARTboard can use the projector system to display their computer desktop/internet. We only have 2 projectors so teachers have to check them out. All classrooms have the ability to have their PC connected to the TV that is in the classroom and can use it in this way., Technologies ???? What Technologies are Available? (Hardware & Software), Technologies ???? How These Technologies Could Be Utilized Differently, Others ???? I wish we had SMARTboards in every classroom. I have noticed that several states require adults to pass a technology skill test as a requirement in obtaining their teaching certificate. Arizona needs to jump on this bandwagon as well. Too many teachers (mostly older veteran teachers - not of the technology era) are reluctant to learn how to use the many forms of technology. If this test was required for recertification as well as initial certification it would change education in Arizona., Technologies ???? How These Technologies are Utilized in the Learning/Teaching Environment, Technologies ???? Others, What Technologies are Available? (Hardware & Software) ???? The hardware available at my school: Dell PCs, SMARTboards, projectors, digital cameras, and printers. The software available at my school: most Microsoft software packages including Word, Excel, and FrontPage (only for certain people); Internet Explorer, First Class, Thinking Maps, and whatever software that I am allowed to install., How These Technologies Could Be Utilized Differently ???? It is my belief that not only should teachers be using these technologies to teach with , but students should be allowed to use them to interact and learn with. Students can certainly use SMARTboards within their own class. Teachers aren't the only people who can or should be using the technology. We must put it into the hands of the students and facilitate their learning through the use of technology.
